Hai, can anyone help me with the diseases of my plants. Tried AVATAR last week. And trying Methyl thiophanate today. Check the pictures. I am also planning to mix COC and with Methyl thiophanate in today’s spray as the infestation is heavy. Anything better solution please, have to control immediately.
thanks
narasimha
Hai Aman, I haven’t faced the problem you are describing. sorry, but will check if there is anything I can come out with.
Hi Aman,
Thanks for your posts and i am regular follower of your posts.
What is the basis of using these pesticides, who recommending them to use, this will cause more harm than cure? what is your thoughts?
If we (humans) have any small diseases like fever, cough we go and see doctors, I believe best people are plant doctors or scientists who have experience or done some research.
or
We need to approach or contact some biotech companies who did research on these diseases, these are my thoughts anyway, if i am wrong please forgive me.
Thanks
Narsimha this is late blight in your plot right ??
And why is their so much weeds inside your ph ?
Aman
Can you recognise which disease is it ? ( the one i have posted?
I couldnt, hence i have to believe on what people say and recommend, but next time when i am through with the whole thing, i will be able to follow better agriculture practices
Your suggestions are always welcome.

thimethoxam - 40ml / 200 litre
Aman, you are loosing on time buddy ! i cant see anything white, except for the symptoms of excess spraying.
the plants look ok aman, upside down turned leaves are normal. so skip that.
i am just worried for thrives Aman… every single day is critical buddy!
and Pegasus, acetamiprid and clothianidin are all ok… but when we are talking about quick control, we need to use the right molecule. all these are for whitefiles.

Hi vivek thanks for your detail reviews on capsicum cultivation. It is pretty much useful for understand concept of capsicum cultivation. I have 5000 sqm land in western Maharashtra. Am planning to establish this kind of project, but my first concern is about market demand for capsicum. Because of govt. subsidies too many people are already doing this kind of farming, so there should be some discrepancies in supply chain of this product. You are the farmer from long so kindly tell me have u ever faced any problem while selling your Agriculture products in market? Have u faced any problems with the rates of the Products & Also I want to Know that what is scope for (Gerbera or Carnation ) cultivation in our Maharashtra ,cause somebody told me that cut flowers cultivation is not remain profitable now days.
Hello Abhisheknrt
I know the query was for Vivek and I am sure he is the best person to reply, but till now what I have seen and known from people that marketing the produce is not easy. I am from Mumbai as well and have traveled to Talegaon, Pune a lot. I spoke to polyhouse owners and they projected the same situation. One thing I saw is that though people were negative about the business still they were doing it. So my final conclusion was that this business is as good as any other business. For.e.g. my garment store. There are thousands of shops, big and small, old and new. Some do great business and some shops close shutters every year. It is basically not what u do but how u do it. How well u are able to cultivate, how good u time it according to the market demand, etc.
As i said I am from Mumbai and looking for people like me, people like you who would want to share ideas and show each other the right way to move ahead.
All the very best
Well said Prash, I like the phrase “not what u do but how u do it”.
Any business will have these kind of issues, first thing you first try to treat agriculture as a business, write a business plan, project plan, 1 year projection plan with low and high returns and see the outcome of it.

If you put your experience and your soul, gain knowledge like Viks , you will successful I am sure. Agriculture is not for quick bucks.
Hello everyone
Harvesting is going on good, satisfied with the yield and rates till now
I think i need to concentrate more on quality now because i see at least 10 percent of my harvest is c grade due to the size and shape. Also, 10% of total red capsicum harvest was round shaped. Its getting sold as people here are not much dicey about it but still i need to improve for future trade.
What are your suggestions to improve fruit quality, size and better fruit set ?

Hello Narasimha,
sorry for not being able to discuss your issue… been away for a while…
firstly. get the weeding done
its a mess…
i can see some fungus on the stems which have dried off… but i am thinking that has developed after the stem has dried.
has the whole plant dried or are they individual branches ?
such symptoms will be seen when the root zone is infected, so you can check for fresh/white roots on the plants, and maybe take a fungicide drenching and keep your fertigation sulphur based.
if you have discussed this with others, plz let us know what they feel.

Hi Abhishek,
i dono what to tell… aman and me keep discussing todays agriculture scenario a lot.
its changed a lot… you are very right about the increasing trend in protected cultivation (shadenet, polyhouse etc) everyday more and more people are getting into it… not just business professionals, but traditional farmers too.
its the need for the day!
people like us, who are mostly new to this field have lots of problems to take care of apart from producing and selling.
selling will always be a pain as our product is perishable. so we dont have any option to store and sell it off later. a bit is possible, cold storage etc, but thats a different topic.
about my experience with rates, its been good… its been bad… but the best part is that any quantity and quality will get sold, but better quality will ALWAYS get better price.
till today i havent been able to understand how is the daily market price decided ? everyone says its supply and demand… but then i have seen all types of combinations, high price - low production, low price - low production, high price - high price etc…
today, produce from one end of the country is sold in the other… lets talk specially about capsicum… wheres does all the produce which is sourced by traders in the Local Nasik Mandi go ? its for sure that such huge quantity is not for local consumption.
and not just nasik, where does the produce from Bangalore or delhi mandi go ?
if one can understand and do some research on how all this works, it can become easier for the grower to plan his crop and select his time of the year.
ok enough with confusing you abhishek ![]()
about flowers, i have grown carnations in Nasik as my first crop (about 4yrs back) farmers from that time, have shifted to capsicum as the weather has changed for bad. carnations need a cooler climate. so not suitable for nasik anymore.
if today, i had the option, i would still grow carnations, as the whole experience was good, its an easy crop as compared to capsicum.
abhishek, flori or agri, both have similar issues. some growers have the whole link setup for flowers, others are happy with vegetables.

Abhishek
Through my experience i can tell you. Everything gets sold.
Just do a little bit of market research of your local mandi and plant the crop. Dont think this much, once you get into it eventually things will become clearer but till you are not getting involved you will have all the questions of the world in your mind.
Once you jump into the river, you have no other option but to swim.
so just get your gears, learn the basic freehand swimming and jump into it buddy.

Thank you Vivek. Have tried some fungicides and am doing so right now. Will update on the same. Only induvidual branches are affected from tip to the nodes. Yes the weeds are a horrible problem. Currently neck deep in supporting the plants as they are falling and growth is a bit vigorous. Don’t have good people to take care of the setup ! Can someone suggest the best tools/machinery for weeding apart from manual ?
narasimha
Hello guys
hows it going with every one
what about you VIKS ? whats up at your end.
i was away for a while, i have returned today itself, new shoots have developed and have good amount of buds on them. Only thing i found quite distracting was length of each node is less (attaching pictures)
do you think its ok, or the node length should be bigger ?
also, my fruits are maturing at a early stage now i.e fruit size is very small and the fruit ripens.
do check the picture and let me know if any precaution needs to be taken.
Aman
Hi Viks,
are you still into capsicum cultivation?
as inquired earlier, wanted to visit your farms. though you have provided very details in the posts, I believe visiting farms would be more enriching ![]()
Anyone who is into capsicum farming and having farms near to Pune - please let me know, I may trouble you too ![]()

Pradip
