Hai Vivek, nikhil, aman and friends,
sorry for not participating in the discussion. Had been going through pretty tough times personally and business related. Lots of issues, problems, finance squeese etc. Though I had following all the discusions, I had been working and waiting for these times to pass by. Anyway thats a different and un necessary topic.
Coming to our farming work, Planted on Feb 25th, its been hell lot of experiance. The world I live is completely new to capsicum, net houses, training etc. So I myself am learning ABCs of farming, so I learn, experiment and teach my ever changing labourers ! Everything from tilling the soil, preparing the land, enriching it, making ridges, net house, planting, irrigation, fertigation, sprays, pest and disease management, plant support systems, tiying the plants, pruning, flowering, weeding (one of the biggest headaches for me), bud formation, falling plants, diying plants, wilting plants, rotting roots, rotting stems, leaf eaters, virus, humidity, temperature, and what not. It was a hell of experiance. Good I am still hanging on and learnt a lot. Though could take help from our farming community, was guided and helped in all aspects till marketing by Mr Ravi Kumar of Bangalore. Though Vivek gave me the much needed confidance and basic know how to even venture into farming. Thanks Vivek ( sounds like a thanks giving note[/quote]
great work Mr NARASIMHA.
Thanks for the reply. Even I feel 50 lakhs is too high. If I am not mistaken, guess you have grown gerberas (have read a post of yours about gerberas!!!). Have you got your greenhouse from a certain company or got it done on your own??
hey aman,
44 degrees ? crazy man ! i get the same temperature here inside the PH.
the max temperature i try to maintain is till 38-39 degrees. recently did flooding in the PH. it was getting damn hot. now its come down to 35-36.
a lot of new plantations for capsicum are facing problems due to the heat, lots of flower dropping and also virus problems. there are chances that all these farmers will shift to a different crop next time.
how was your experience when you visited the gerbera site ?
i know Indian Greenhouse Pvt. Ltd, (earlier known as shrihari polyhouse), its the same company owned by Mr.Marathay yea ?
its a very reputed company, my first setup was made by them
this fellow has some patents in PH designs, so you can check on them also.
and arijeet, the price he has quoted is for a high tech design i think. check how much the basic design would cost etc.
work reputation of this fellow is very good, but the only problem i see is the cost… if we can have a breakdown we would be in a better position.
i am having some confusion, the gerbera sapling cost is included in 50 lakhs?
i mean… what all does 50 lakh cover ? is it just the PH and the saplings ? or a whole working setup with a packing house and labor quarter also ?
today a decission was taken to clear the Palladin site, and take Syngenta Orobelle & Bomby…
the market for green capsicum has further gone down… and looking at the quantity of produce coming, the rates are not gona look good.
will be starting land preparation tomorrow.
posting some last pictures for palladin.
planning on a bit low density for the new crop. have calculated requirement based on 1.5 feet spacing.
Yea viks temperature is 44-46 inside my ph daily. I feel bad for the labour thats working inside. They are like the real heroes for me
You are bringing down the temp to 38-39 inside ph ? How are you doing that, what all methods are you following ? I have started wetting the walkways once in a day with the help of hose pipe and m also using a bit of foggers to maintain temp. What else ?
I currently have started getting new flowers on my plants, no dropping as such. Harvesting around 100 kgs almost daily. So things look pretty ok right now.
Just the temp is bothering me
Like, looking at this, the first thing that came in my mind is dude, what are you waiting for !!
It must be quite expensive yea ? But surely a great utility for bigger farms. I plan to get this for my next 5 acre site.
Aman,
i flood alternate walkways, so the whole PH doesnt get muddy, and i can take sprays or harvest incase there is a need.
as i told earlier, i dont use foggers, i have extended the drip timming to almost an hour, and then flood. this keeps the surrounding cooler for a longer time.
as i am cleaning up my whole site, i am doing some little changes inside. my north side is exposed to direct sunlight thruout the day, so i am getting a extra shadenet pulled that side to block the light.
then getting some little maintenance work done, getting the upper curtains fixed etc.
the weather is really dry and hot here man… its cooler outside than the PH but then theres no option yea…
yea man… i am in the process of finalizing a Toro system for my sites.
automation is the need when the sites are big. and these systems take care of almost everything. i have also seen drones used in farming for pest identification. totally crazy technology man…
i love these systems, although they are expensive… the one in the pics, almost costed INR 1.6 cr… i also saw a eletrostatic sprayer unit costing INR 1.8 cr…
blows my mind…
the sites which have them are huge… one is called “Flower Power” which is a 80 acre site, and the other is “Petals from Patel” another 110 acres. both are catering to roses, gerberas, orchids, carnations and exporting them.
now these are the types of setups i m talking about… this isint just plain old simple farming anymore…
80 acres and 110 acres site ?? . Crazyyy
I would love to have that kind of setups, automated and huge. All export quality. Thriving towards it, but this is my most important phase I call it the ‘learning phase’ !
Technology should be used parallel to agriculture. I sometimes think, how cool it will be to operate all fertigation, curtains opening and closing, climate control unit through my ipad !!
Dude, seeing this i have changed my plan to buy a new car instead i want to spend on these cool things first.
what are these (pictures attached) ? is it the extended and worst form of thrips itself, which was prevailing earlier in my polyhouse or is this something else ?
we have taken a spray of pegasus, and clothianidin earlier and a spray of acetamiprid is due for tomorrow.
this problem seem to have spread on the whole last line of the ph.
what do you think is this infection/disease ?
these plants are in group and they have covered almost half of my 1000 sqmt plot, these plants are showing tremendous slow growth compared to others plus they can be easily be seen different from rest of the plants around them. looks like a white substance on leaves, hard and brittle leaves. their is something too wrong with the plants. plus the leaves seem to be bent downwards.
please check them and guide me how to eradicate this disease ASAP…
