Last week saw us harvesting paddy in addition to completing additional sowings, weeding and regular farm activities.
As in most parts of the country, combine harvesters do the job of reaping the paddy and separating the grain from the chaff in one operation. We had to do manual harvesting with women labour in a small wet patch where the harvester had trouble going through. We are currently sun drying the grain, protecting from the occasional rain we are seeing.
Dear Sir
Is it profitable for the input Vs output
Good question! We grow organic, retail to end customers and are trying to match things out. Doing it for wholesale market is a definite tight rope walk.
in the pictures, you have only planted near the valley/furrow. How are you going to use the middle empty area?
This spacing is mostly for gourds and melons. The vines grow and cover the land.
For crops with lesser coverage, we plant closer.

We have recently transplanted 1 acre of onion Nasik Red N53 variety on beds with drip irrigation, and it turned out very labour intensive. Please comment if you grow onion differently.

One of our organic potato plots was attacked and destroyed by wild boars. As we know, farm production is subject to a number of risks, and animal damage is just one of them. We are putting in extra protection to protect our other potato plots.

Thanks for the hydroponics reference. We grow organic and hence don’t go for hydroponics. Also scaling to large scale in hydroponics is another limitation.

You may have seen our earlier videos on rice seed soaking and broadcasting. This is an update on how the nursery is shaping up.

Beautiful farm. Please use a farm pond (without liner). If you are using Bore well that means the farm is in ICU. It might not sustain for long. A farm pond completely changes the ecosystem of the farm for the good.
