Growing capsicum in polyhouse - my experience

hello MR AMAN
SORRY FOR THE SPELLING mistake. it is PARTHENOCARPIC.
in our area cucumber can be cultivated during one season only. but in polyhouse we will be able to grow 3 crops in a year. that is the major advantage.
regarding the hybrid – there is a problem. almost all the hybrids [parthenocarpic] are develped and seed prodn is done in foreign countries. some Indian companies import and sell them with their own name or numbers. it is difficult to get the same hybrid everytime.
namdhari seeds ,Rijk Zwaan and pahuja seeds supply such hybrids.

HELLO MR VIKS
COAL WILL SUPPLY GA?? HOW DO YOU SUPPLY THAT BY SOIL APPLICATION OR BY SPRAYING?
ARE YOU USING ARTIFICIAL POLLINATION METHODS ? IF SO PL. EXPLAIN. ALSO PL POST YOUR SCHEDULE FOR ORGANIC NUTRIENT SUPPLY. THANK YOU
THEN REGARDING CROP ROTATION-- IT IS VERY MUCH ADVISABLE. EVEN IN POLYHOUSE CERTAIN PATHOGENIC BUILDUP SPECIFIC TO A CROP MAY INCREASE & THIS MAY ATTACK THE NEXT CROP AT THE INITIAL STAGE ITSELF IF THE SAME CROP IS CONTINUOUSLY GROWN. i am thinking of green chillies for my next crop? pl. give your opinions MR VIKS &MR. AMAN

HELLO VIKS
SOFAR I HAVE NOT USED  GA. MAY BE I WILL TRY THIS TIME. THANK YOU

Morning Mr.Ak,

regarding the organic schedule, the one which i have right now, is more like in code words. as the plants and extract i use have local names. plus i m waiting for some reports to come from the testing lab for the products i use to find their values in terms of nutrients, as suggested by a fellow member, so than i can be 100% confident to upload them online with supporting reports.

due to diwali approaching, they are loaded with WIP. so hopefully by 6-7th next month i should have the reports which i will share.

about Ga, i give it via drip as well as spray. the procedure is a bit boring and technical. i have this huge drum (500 litre) in which i keep adding coal from time to time, and the powder while crushing huge stones. so this mixture is like a micronutrient. it has calcium, ferrous and Gallium also.

the drum is a pyramid structure made from glass, as it is scientifically proved that energy created and is focused faster in this.

and i am surprised you’ve not used Ga ever for your cucumber. if you have plants in fruiting stage, seriously try it, and u’ll fall in love with it. there must be chemicals available in market, which you can get your hands on and easy on your pocket too.
i have some pictures, but sadly again, i cant find them. will upload for you once i am back.

and green chillies… the little ones ? like fingure long and the hot ones ?
ummm… let me get back to you on that one too with pictures

TODAY`S NUTRIENT

  • 6 BA
  • Amino Acid
  • Folic Acid

What are these? benefits? use?

Which of the products is better? and how does one decide?

There are many products having same function. different sources, different prices, different dose.
so i as a farmer, who doesnt have knowledge of chemicals and composition, how do i decide which is better, in terms of performance and results?

Vivek

Some more comparisons -

Example, Confidor & Super Confidor.

Same company, different pricing. same purpose.
so which one to use ??

Vivek

Comparison - Continued…

One of my personal favourites. i have used both, tested both.

same company, different products.

normal buyer will not get the products tested in labs… so what is the truth and the facts behind all these different names and packaging ??

TODAY`S NUTRIENT
HELLO Mr VIKS

  • 6 BA
  • Amino Acid
  • Folic Acid
6 benzyladnine—helps in plant growth by aiding cell division
aminoacids play a major role in protein synthesis. thus they have important role in plant health and yield characteristics
folic acid—it is a vitamin compleX B9 . THIS ALSO HELPS PLANTS TO GROW HEALTHY
THEN ABOUT the different brands of fertilizers.----- just we have to believe what they say. once i had a very bad experience . i bought some bags of water soluble fertilizers. and after sometime , found that it had been adulterated with salt NACL. MANY FOOLS WHO DONOT CARE ABOUT AGRICULTURISTS DO THIS KIND OF ADULTERATON. ATLEAST THEY COULD HAVE MIXED SOME SAND WITH THE FERTILIZER WHICH WILL BE HARMLESS TO THE PLANTS. BUT MIXING NACL ??? THE WAY OUT MAY BE---- WE SHOULD ANALYSE EACH BAG IN A LAB . AGRI INPUTS QUALITY CONTROL DEPT SHOULD TAKE VERY STRONG ACTION ON THESE ADULTERATORS
    .

Are all above products organic?

hello VIKS

so i see you now :p…sorry, i have got a very bad recalling ability, suggest some herbs … :stuck_out_tongue:
a good and long discussion with you, thank you for giving so much of time and providing such important informations.

aman

Sri, stop pulling my legs, ur the organic expert…

for the readers… NO all these products are not organic.
we need to make a separate post for everything to avoid confusion. sorry for mixing up things here.

i am posting pics, just to share the ingredients. some of them can be found naturally in green vegetables, compost, extracts etc. so once u know the molecule you are looking for, you can check if it is possible to make it in a natural way. thats what i do. it takes time and is a bit time consuming to understand the concept and process, but then, i have all the free time in the world

Vivek

hehe Aman,

the world is a very small place!
and farmnest got us connected first, then came today. but seriously, it was such a big surprise !

Vivek

QUESTION FOR THE DAY

should i use the same 00x00x50 / 00x52x34 / Calcium Nitrate or any other nutrient or combination for irrigation as well as for foiler spray ?

is this advisable ?

Vivek

Evening, Mr.Ak,
u should seriously start a nutrient related post also!

i will be using these via spray once in 15 days for more flowering, and conversion to fruit. thus quick turn around time, hence increase in production.

say, if a normal bud takes about 30 days to turn into a ready to harvest fruit, the use of 6BA + Amino + Folic Acid will make the conversion a lot faster and reduce the lead time by 15-20%

along with this, i will be using a lot of Phosphorus (about 3 kg/week) and a bit of nitro benzene to further boost the development and conversion.

my target season has started and i have 3-4 months before the price drops drastically. so i am preparing my plants for their peak production during this time.

and Mr.Ak, it is very true about the adulterations, i have had a consultant give me a extract claiming it to be 100% organic, which turned out to be code blue chemical, and i was disqualified for organic certification.

all this is really sad, and against our practises. but its happening out there.

Vivek

i know ryt !

anyways, you said 170 tons per acre ???? m still thinking how did you make that possible ?

p.s - i have few other questions that i posted a little earlier, if you get time please look into it.

aman

170 + is the target man !
9.5 is done till now (90 days plants) and peak production is yet to start.

lets wait and watch.

sorry for missing out on earlier questions. think we both need the herb for good memory :stuck_out_tongue:
is it the pesticides, nutrient schedule, support system? or something else that i missed ?

Vivek

hello MR VIKS
CALCIUM NITRATE----- I THINK THAT TWO FORMS OF CANO3 are in the market . one is about rs 40 per kg and another one is for foliar spraying which was much costlier. i dont know abt the difference in chemical composition . .i will try to get them.

hello guys

A very important question popped up in my mind.

How Important is it to maintain farm records i.e (expenditure, income, fertilizer schedule etc) ???

and how are you guys maintaining this (format)?

Aman

Hello viks

you said, these 3-4 months is the peak season for capsicum. i assume you are talking in terms of rates per kg.
Could you please share the reason ?

i felt that harvest in summer/ rainy season must be most profitable for polyhouse ventures as this is the time when most of the open field crops are drastically effected due weather.

kindly throw some light into this, and correct me if m wrong

thank you

aman

Morning Mr.Ak,

everytime we see the contents of any product (foiler/drip) there will be some Additives, Diluents, adjuvants, spreaders, solvents, penetrators etc. to make the composition 100%

so products which normally are sold for Drip purpose will be a bit harsh (impure) and cheap, as compared to products for foiler spray, which will be more pure, and high price.

but there are companies, which make products for both purpose and sell them separately, and obviously at a price difference.

i have used various products of different companies, some dissolve well, some dont, some are sticky, some take time to dissolve, some have good spreading & penetrating properties and so on.

i asked a question for the day long time back. say 00x00x50 is the product we are testing… so theres nothing but potassium - 50% so what is the rest 50% ?

now first of all, different companies source the potassium from various locations. some are in india, some international, some cold places, some dry. so the raw material will have different properties. meaning, some might be rich in iron, some in carbon, some in copper etc.

so this is the first difference.

what is the rest 50% makes the second difference.

Vivek
