We are planning for cultivation of Yellow Cucumber / Dosakai in 3 acres in end-January / early-February. My farm is located near Tenkasi in Tirunelveli District in Southern Tamil Nadu and we are targeting the Kerala market. The soil is loamy red and is suited for vegetable cultivation

I am writing to seek expert views on Yellow Cucumber / Dosakai on the following areas

  1. Crop duration - No of days
  2. Average yield per acre
  3. Water requirement per acre
  4. Plantation method - Direct seed sowing / broadcast; or transplantation or furrows / ridges method
  5. Irrigation timeline - How often to irrigate
  6. Average retail & wholesale price in April
  7. Harvesting - Is it a single time harvesting or is the harvesting like other vegetable crops

1.Crop duration - 60 to 70Days after Planting (Space 36 to 60 inches apart, depending on Variety and Soil.)Soil pH should be 6.0 to 6.8.
2. Average yield per acre :15 to 25 t/ha
3. Water requirement per acre : Seed to Planted
4. Plantation method - Direct seed sowing / broadcast; or transplantation or furrows / ridges methodSeed to Planted

My Posting is already there in this Forum. Pl. Check and read. For the Yellow Cucumber Mehico Variety I have used earlier. For Bellary also you can use this Brand. 1 Kg seed is required per Acre.
