Suggestions for chilli black thrips

Crop: Chili
Variety: Red
Date or month when noticed: Nov
Location: Guntur
Climate: Rainy/sunny/cold etc.: Cold

I am facing black thrips problems. Pls suggest a solution

What is the growth stage of your crop? If very young (20-25 days after transplanting) go for half of recommended dose. If crop is older, go for full recommended dose.

  1. You may use Acephate or Fipronil or Dimethoate which are relatively low cost molecules. You might need repeat sprays at 7-10 days interval. Please alternate the chemical to prevent thrip resistance.
  2. Also please spray in late evening with atleast 200 ltrs water per acre. As you know chilli leaves are highly sensitive.
  3. You may include a growth stimulant to help in faster recovery from thrip toxicity.
  4. Once under control, go for preventive spray of Neem based product.
  5. Incase of repeat infestation go for higher end molecules like new generation products available in market
