We got very sudden rain on sunny hot day on our Onion farm. It was very small amount of rain. Onion age is around 70-80 days. After that all green leave turned yellow and going to drying. We use fungicide immediately and there is no hope.
What is my mistake? And how can I overcome in the situation? What is the reason for this damage.
Do you think, it is heat stoke (sudden cold and hot). It cannot make cool the soil rather heat is came up under the soil to catch up the cooler part and it make imbalance situation for the onion farming?
Sudden yellowing of onion leaves after a light rain can be caused by several factors:
.
Temperature fluctuations: Sudden changes in temperature can cause stress, leading to yellowing leaves.
Soil pH imbalance: Onion plants prefer a slightly acidic to neutral soil pH. An imbalance can cause nutrient deficiencies, leading to yellowing leaves.
Management Strategies
Improve drainage: Ensure the soil drains well to prevent waterlogging.
Monitor for pests and diseases: Inspect plants regularly and take action if necessary.
Little rain may not rovide sufficient root moisture. Adjust irrigation: Avoid overwatering, and adjust irrigation schedules according to weather conditions.
