We have around 20+ acres of farm My background is IT professional 6+ years back.. Now for teh last 10 years, I am into farming and growing Lemons , Mangos , Coco nuts and Tamarind.. And also i have Paddy and Raagi cultivation.. But i am facing very very unique issue from the neighbouring village people… THEFT ………THEFT……… THEFT.. I was thinking of standard solutions like security cameras etc, but they will steal those items also.. Henc ei am looking for a INNOVATIVE ideas to curb this … Please suggest we can have a discussion on this..
Maybe if u know the culprits, hand the proofs to Police.
Or if u want to be serious about the issue, try raising Pet Dogs. And keep beware of Dogs board. (Better ea person who can handle them or people can poison them. Better the trained dogs)
More serious about it try traps to catch them.
If you want to deal smoothly, try talking about it and explain the process of law if they are handed over to police. Though i think Theft punishment is not a big deal in India.
Try Fencing (Unique situation is they may damage the fencing. Happened to us).
End of the day, it’s the mindset that’s need a change.
Fencing is the best option with boards displaying that tresspassers will be prosecuted or shot ( just threaten don’t follow it through), beware of dogs board will deter the majority.
So having experienced the issue, I do not think a normal fencing or boards deter the locals. Unless you are staying on the farm and have electric fencing around I do not see how you can protect your harvest.
First of all , i must thank you all for your good suggestions and opinions. I am very seasoned and experience IT professional and turned to very serious farmer for the last 10 + years… I am fully aware of all these challenges.. I request some kind of good ideas , to see that i catch the theif first ( mostly likely - my guess is my owner care taker ) It is not so simple to remove him from the job due to some local issues. Before i do that i need to have a concrete proof that he is the theif. I am trying to instal security cameras but they steal that also.. I am seriously evaluating very innovative ideas from each one of you so that we can address this kind of challenges . I have two main challenges..1. I don’t stay in the village even though i have a small house - Travel from Bangalore weekly basis for a day 2. Most of the villagers work very hard , but end result they don’t get reasonable price for their produce and they are really bleeding and getting into stealing work. Sitting ideal. Use security camera with cloud storage and sim card enabled with Internet so that u wil not miss the theft scene atleast also backup security 1 camera with another so that if they touch any camera still u know who is the thief
