I have inherited some farm land in PA from my deceased relative and I would like to know what I should be charging my farmer per month for rent. TI have contacted the ag department and the best they could do was give me prices per acre of land from 2012. The farmer has rented this property for many years and was only getting charged $940 a quarter. From the prices I’ve seen that seems very low to me. I’d like to adjust the prices to make a better profit for myself and my kids. I have 97 tillable acres (non irrigated) slate land, where top soil was hauled in years ago. The farmer normally plants a variety of corn, soybeans, alfalfa, and winter wheat. If you could come up with a ballpark figure that would be great. Thank you for your time!
