I am from Mysore. I own upto 4 acres of land. Recently I’ve started coconut plantation. And with it I was thinking of starting lemon plantation as well. It would be a great if any one would recommend which variety of lemon should I start with. All the major and minor problems that I could face. What are the diseases and pest attacks that I should be aware of for the lemon plantation? How and where to sell the yeild?

Hi, there are plenty of hybrids/varieties in the local nurseries. Purchase from certified nurseries only. Coming to selection of hybrids-
Balaji- high yielding, disease resistant, sturdy
Is the best option, this is a variety developed by Tirupati Agriculture University, hence reliable
Lemon requires ample sunlight it may not be feasible in between coconut plants. Concentrate on coconut now….in borders you can try some timber variety
ThnQ Sir . Iam suggesting you it is better to go for 5/3 Layer Faming to have better Income of Rs.50K per Acre even in Worst Conditions.Being it is Forest Plantation there is no need of Vermicompost. I am suggesting you to put 1-2 Gampas of FMY(Farm Yard Manure) If you are very Particular you can Contact Jayshankar Agriculture University , Rajemdranagar. The cost may be Es.10/Kg. While using Vermicompost also Thank You very Much Sir I am suggesting you to use FMY, Cocopeat , Digged Soil in equal Proportion wile filling the pit after Plantation.
