Need suggestion on machinery required for mono and multicrop

We have 7 acres of open land- no trees. Planning to develop the land in stages. For now, implementing 5 layer model in one acre with coconut, citrus, banana etc.

Also planting Malabar Neem and pine trees in border as wind breakers. The labour cost is very high for digging land. Considering to buy earth auger. Pls suggest on good brand. Also, the basic machinery we need to keep for weeding, cleaning etc.

Pl add Vetiver as an intercrop. It increases soil fertility and many more benefits

What kind of soil you have?

5 layer is possible with minimal tools based on soil, crop and right crop combinations.First take time to study local soil, weather for an yeae before starting cultivation

Ma’am , Your best advantage is your Peri-urban and Urban location . So think out of the box , diecast concept of agriculture . 7 acres is a huge land if you a legal business entity ( GST /MSME ) you can get financial support from NLM UDAYMITRA scheme ( with multiple options - animal husbandry ,Poultry , Dairy , Goatry , Piggery , Fodder cultivation -Silage processing , Alternative animal feed manufacturing , High end value addition e.g. Cheese etc. ) to start with . We as a small micro enterprise got the fund to conserve a native chicken breed known as Naked Neck under semi free range conditions and start hatchery to save this pure line chicken breed Our rural agriculture is still now follows backward inputs and forward processing strategy …you can start backward / forward linkage at cultivation spot .

Black cotton Soil sir

I have been visiting the multi layer farms for a while now. Also, researching on youtube. You can search for Parlekar method of natural farming. The revenue generation takes some time in this method.

digging holes initial investment use JCB as it digs deeper holes to add organic matter for new planting plants, if soil compaction is high its very tuff to grow plants except for rice. Buy border plants bushy plants like Yew, Thuja etc. weed are good, weed in property means your not taking care of weed, if you find weed burn is continuously until no weed stays. machinery add no help on weeds as they keep on coming year after year as seeds are not destroyed while tilling.

Nothing beats a powerful mini tractor if budget is not a limitation. You could also get used tractor at a better price if you are lucky. As far Other implements, they are show pieces. This is my practical experience.

Plug the required ancillary to the tractor & you are good to go.

Thanks. We have booked the mini tractor Kubota. The ancillary from the same company is a bit expensive. Hence planning for an auger independent of the tractor.

Kubota, hmm!
We have a B2420 for many years now, and it is very painful on the service and spares front. As we speak, we are looking to transport the tractor and rotavator hundreds of km for service.
Kubota has closed out most dealerships in Telangana. They produce good machines but their service and distribution is troublesome in India.

All the other major tractor companies have mini tractors too, so I would advise more research and caution, based on your location.

Hi Maheshwari,

Were you able to implement 5 layer farming in you farm. Could you please share the current status of your farm. Thanks.

ThnQ Sir . Iam suggesting you it is better to go for 5/3 Layer Faming to have better Income of Rs.50K per Acre even in Worst Conditions.Being it is Forest Plantation there is no need of Vermicompost. I am suggesting you to put 1-2 Gampas of FMY(Farm Yard Manure) If you are very Particular you can Contact Jayshankar Agriculture University , Rajemdranagar. The cost may be Es.10/Kg. While using Vermicompost also Thank You very Much Sir I am suggesting you to use FMY, Cocopeat , Digged Soil in equal Proportion wile filling the pit after Plantation. I f you need we will provide Consultancy service. Please Contact: Satyamnarayana Manne, for Vasudhagreen, 9133498366, vasudhagreefarms@gmail.com

P.S.:- Being yours is 25 Acres you go far Johndeer Tractor in addition to the it is also better to have on small intercultivation of Tiller for effective montoring of Weed etc. You contact Mahipal Chari f in Parakala Telangana State near Hyderabad. He got President of India Award for his tiller 9908145590 . If you need please Call 9133498366.

Hi Vij, Yes, I have developed one acre of 5 layer farming. 1st- Coconut, 2nd- Guava/Sapota/Citrus, 3rd- Papaya and nugge. 4th and 5th is yet to be planned. SO far it has been good. Coconuts have raised, Fruits are slowly popping out. I faced severe challenge of weeds which was blocking growth of main plants. I couldnt do rotovator there as i had planted Moringa and Glyricidia in between. Labour cost was intensive. So i had to let go of Moringa and Glyricidia line and make place for the tractor. Now the plats have raised and will plan for the remaining layers and replant Glyricidia and Moringa. I should have ideally put them in the same line of second layer. You can message me for more details or write to mahibab@gmail.com.
