The principal crops of the district are Paddy, Jowar, Maize, Cotton, Castor, Pulses and Vegetable.
Red Soils predominate in the district followed by Black soils.
The mandals where more than 50% of the villages have Red-chalka soils as the predominate soils are Medchal, Shameerpet, Qutbullapur, Keesara, Hayathnagar, Saroornagar, Uppal, Ghatkesar, Rajendranagar, Pargi, Doma Shamshabad, Serilingampally, Kulkacherla and Gandeed.
Dubba soils are largely found in Ibrahimpatnam, Manchal, Yacharam, Maheshwaram and Kandukur Mandals besides Red chalka soils.
