I would love to have a couple of Lychee Trees in my farm. Do they grow in Medak Dist of AP? If yes where can I get good saplings?
I planted 2 two year old saplings in my fruit orchard (near Mokila, Ranga Reddy D.T.) which I procured from Satyadev Nursery, Kadiyam, Rajahmundry. Satyadev is biggest in India by some accounts. They told me that they did not have any luck these trees bearing fruit. Nevertheless I want to see if I can do that. These trees thrive in cold climate and abundant in West Bengal high elevations. Excellent fruit not to mention that trees can be ornamental.
Saplings established fine and new leaves are observed. I will post few pics later.

Lychees have many different cultivars and some are engineered for the location like some varieties in Hawaii…
However the best lychees in the world and in most commercial orchards is of the Tai So cultivar, also commonly known as the Mauritius variety.
These require night time temperatures to stay below 65 F for at least 5-6 days in a row for flowers to stay viable and turn into fruits in 140 days. So you do have to check your area and the variety you planted.
There are a few other varieties with smaller fruits and different levels of acidity and which fruit at different times. But the Mauritius variety is king although the least resistant to wind. May be plant a few different varieties depending on your local microclimate. The white fungus on the bark is harmless and best left alone as are the withered leaves at different times. A proper pruning to address ventilation usually gets rid of the problem…
