Hi All,
I recently brought land and due to previous chemical farming, the organic carbon, Nitrogen and other minerals content is pretty low.
Trying to regenerate soil using cover crops.
But also want to add Jeevamrutham but practically seems to be impossible because of we dont have native cows and procuring from Native cows from village is also hard so wanted to try Panchagavya as it has more shelf life.
Please share experience on if using Panchagavya monthly once is as effective as Jeevamrutham?
Please suggest.
Share your soil & water testing report. Panchkayva wont work straight away. a comprehensive plan is needed to rejevunate. Will check your report and let you know my suggestions.
I have tried this in my friends place and it is working very well.

If the soil is very degraded, you can do this three times as per schedule below:-
- First time - 15 days
- Second time - 30 days
- Third time - 60 days
You should be able to see the difference.
Later on, you can use both panchagavya or jeevamrutham.
Hi
i have had similar challenge a couple of years back. i am not sure what you are wanting to grow and cultivate. If you have time on your hand please green manure crop ( Sun Hemp, Dalchina etc.) … grow them for 45 days and plough it back. In the second cycle please plant 25 kg per acre of mixed seeds consisting of any two oil seeds, any three pluses seeds, two green manure seeds, two variety of millet seeds, corriander, palak gongura( telugu word) and grow for another 45 days and plough it back using rotavator.
After this spay 200 ltrs of Waste decomposer without dilution per acre and plough once more.
You can then start growing crops using vermi compost and other organic fertilizers. The above process will improve organic matter in the soil effectively
Thank you for the article… if I may ask how much would it improve on the Organic carbon?
Thank you Parthu… instead of rotovator can I use brush cutter? I mean broadcast seeds and then use brush cutter instead of rotovator?
Karthik … Brush cutter will not work as the soil needs ro be turned over so fhat organic matter goes into the soil and decompose.
You can always rent one if you dont own one.
I am sure the Organic Carbon(OC) will improve overtime.
The OC will not increase immediately just by planting green manure crops and mixed into the soil… It is just a starting point. You need to have continuous dry mulches(6-9 inches) in your farm which will be composted by various micro organisms and will form a black layer over the current soil. You can aid the composting by adding waste decomposer or jeevamrutham or pachagavya etc. Only then, your OC will be good…
This, if you do well, you can see the difference in 3 years time.
