IFFCO Bazar - Ecommerce from the bureaucrats.
I have bought agri inputs from iffcobazar.in a few times. I have purchased crop seeds and other farm inputs on the site.
What is nice:
- Backing of world’s largest Cooperative and India’s largest fertilizer manufacturer
- A range of seeds, inputs and tools, some of them manufactured by IFFCO
- Deep pockets to provide sales support and farmer guidance. Toll free number that actually gets through to an agent, available in multiple languages
- An intuitive and attractive website. Crop and stock filters and categories work nicely
- The order number assignment and display seems neat, when an order is split into multiple consignments
What can improve:
- Very limited range of products listed. As on date, only seeds of two companies are listed on the site. Also, the bulk of the listed products are out of stock
- No courier details are displayed in the order tracking information
- In almost every order, only some products get shipped and the rest are ignored without notice or information. One has to check on their website and suddenly after many weeks, the status could show as RTO or refunded
- A number of photos of management are displayed on the website like any Government organization, but no one seems to be responsible to take feedback received into action
- Emails sent to IFFCO are responded with canned emails of no real substance
Conclusion:
IFFCO Bazar seems to be in its very early stages with limited products and low process maturity. Repeated partial dispatch of orders and poor communication do not instill confidence, while an ecommerce website in this space would require to be agile and appreciative of farmer needs, for whom growing season does not wait for weeks to reorder products that don’t get dispatched.
