Identifying plant varieties

I have an inquisitive habit of know what is the variety of fruits, vegetables or even the type of lentils that I am buying. The people in the market just say farm or native variety without giving me any detailed info. How can I say identify that my chilli is a Akashi-10 or a Kanthari?

Many of the the packaging for say dried chillies etc don’t mention the type. Is there a way to look up say in a horticultural website or something?

@k_viju : Yes. When I cook I want to know the variety that I am putting to get the best out of my cooking. I find that good ingredients especially the native varieties taste awesome.
