Its 8:11 pm now and I am reading this post since today afternoon. Still on 7th page and reading every bit of it. Not missing a single word from Viks. This thread is loaded with info and the knowledge that i am looking ahead to start farming as a career.
I BOW DOWN TO THIS MAN. HE COULD JUST SIT IN NASHIK AND MAKE MONEY WITHOUT LETTING THE INFO SPREAD BUT HAIL THIS MAN FOR WHAT HE IS DOING. WITH THE TIME HE SPARES AND THE HEART HE HAS TO SHELL ALL INFO OUT IS BEYOND MY WORDS OF APPRECIATING SOMEONE. I AM SPELLBOUND, SPEECHLESS. MAY THE ALMIGHTY DO JUSTICE TO SUCH PEOPLE AND RAISE THEM ABOVE ALL OF US.
Hai,
Have been running around with shade net work, bed preparation, procuring various manures and cultures for beds and my seedlings. Seedling have started showing my initial fight with pests and problems. To start with had some pockets that was receiving direct sunlight from the side walls, plastic sheet had blown away by wind and that caused some parts to have stunted growth and wilting. Then last 3 days have seen some of my leaves neatly cut from the stem and eaten away. And found the black caterpillar type larvae feeding on them. Did a 0.5% Imidacloprid spary 2 days back, but still they are persisting. talked to nikhil and as suggested today checked every tray and removed all the pests manually and will spray neem oil in the evening. Thanks nikhil. Have sown another 5000 seeds 2 weeks as a back up for all the lost seedlings. Have to do fumigation with formaldehye tomorrow and prepare to transplant by this month end. just attaching some pics - both the good ones and bad ones. Just one lesson need to do some preventive measures and then at the first sight of an abnormality - just run and every hour lost will cause more and more damage !

Mr. Narasimha, what mix are you using in the seedling trays? Is it cocopeat mixed with compost or soil? Are the leaves that have yellowed only the ones with direct sunlight exposure or do you notice any yellowing on other seedlings as well. I often get zinc deficiency at nursery stage (made the mistake of using 100% cocopeat).
Hai rana,
Its just coco peat with some neem cake. Added small amount of Azospirillum and Aztobactor. I am not of the slight yellowing will check out if its sunlight reflection or any deficiency. Sprayed MAP after 2 weeks and 19:19:19 last week. And non of the people I talked to or the literature I found suggested to add anything to the coco peat ! But thanks for pointing out, will check out today.

Hey Prash,

Hey Mr.Narasimha,
woah… little plants
love them.
are u still facing chewing pest problems? i m having some sucking pest problems with the new Indra.
i would strongly recommend that u use methomyl and take a combination of Dichlorvos along with, as the plants are little, and do not have flowering. so its safe, and very effective + very economical.
there is another molecule called Spinosad, but that is a higher molecule and costlier too. i would also recommend it if you are having sucking and chewing pests. its more like a broad spectrum molecule and is very effective.
plz remember, that you do NOT need to add silvet or any sl molecule in such chemicals. as the use of sl doesnt let the molecule do it job properly.
as a thumb rule, always remember, chemicals which have high density do not need silicon to be added in them. so you can save a decent amount this way.
about the yellowness in the leaves, what all have you sprayed or given thru watering as fertilizers?
try a foiler spray of chelated calcium and ferrous, and you’ll notice immediate results (within 2 days). you can also take micro nutrient spray.
plz post some pictures of the nursery structure. have you covered the trays/plants on top and side?
Vivek
hey again Mr.Narasimha,
why is it that you are using Azospirillum and Aztobactor for germination? these all are nitrogen fixing cultures.
what do u feel is important to focus on during germination ?
Vivek
hey Aman,
why on the earth are u troubling the little plants? how would u feel if i pick u up by ur neck? ![]()
the plant looks pretty, and the roots also. i would wait a bit more for the roots to get developed.
are you giving humic ?
Vivek
yea they too thikn m a little trouble for them ![]()
m not using humic, do you think i should give them a humic acid dose of 1.5ml per liter of water
?
Aman
and VIKS
the plants are having uneven growth,
why do you think this is happening ? what should i do about it ??
not all plants are as developed as this one.
also, few plants have gone dry and wilted.

But on a serious note you rock buddy.Hats off to your patience and enthusiasm. How the hell do you find time to write so much and in quite a detail despite what looks like a hectic activity. And did you say you have a regular job apart from farming ?
hi sareeta
I am also starting shadenet house capsicum & tomato.
We get 50%+20% SUBSIDY on structure as well as on planting cost

Hai Vivek,
I have manually removed all the caterpillar kind of insects from the plants and trees. Am spraying neem oil as suggested by Nikhil. I the problem persists I will follow your suggestion and get back to you. Regarding fertilizers, Had sprayed MAP 2 weeks ago and then 19:19:19 after a week. I am trying out one PICASO Gold of Indo Gulf poduct for micro nutrients. Let me see how it will affect the plants. And I was advised to add the bacterial cultures to the coco peat for nitrogen fixation only. Not sure but just thought there will be no negative effect and followed it.
Anyway thanks for the valuable advice and will keep you updated.
narasimha
Hello Anup,
I always knew about the 50% subsidy on any kind of green house. But never knew about the 20% part. Is it some specific state or its pan India. Will this 20% subsidy also be in Madhya Pradesh?
Do share the info please.
Thanks
Prashant
Hi Friends,
I found one company manufacturing these hooks in India
agrovision.co.in/climbing-plant- … amps.shtml
I have asked for the quote let see how they respond.
Just FYI.
hi Prashant
National Hort Board gives 50 % to all states, almost all states grants 20% appx.,it is better u get in to the website of MP Hort dept I am sure they will have their guidelines
anup
hello prashant
In MP specially their is no special subsidy by the state, but its given by nhm
50% of 935rs/sq mt. which includes your polyhouse construction and drip installation.
Are you all aware of any subsidy on plants
is their a thing like that ?
aman
