GI Tagged Dale Khursani Chilli Pepper from Kalimpong

DALE KHURSANI - indigenous chili variety to the Eastern Himalaya – Darjeeling, Sikkim, and the Eastern districts of Nepal which got GI tag in September 2021
Despite the heat or spiciness of the chilli is quite similar to that of Mexican Habanero chilies ( 1,00,000 to 3,50,000 SHU ) do not come with any burning like sensation like other hot chilies having a distinct aroma .
These Chili species mostly grows in the hilly temperate climates , too much water kills the plants .
With its thick skin and excellent flavor and bite, the Dalle Khursani , which are called Akbare in Nepal mostly used for making authentic MOMO sauce and traditional pickle .
The peppers are also pickled with other regional vegetables like bamboo shoot (‘tama’), radish (‘mula’), fermented soybean (‘kinema’) and meat products.
