FYM plus AMMONIUM SULPHATE INCREASE YIELD IN MORINGA

If drumstick is young , you can apply Ammonium sulphate to the soil directly in pocket manuring …50 grams in 2 or 3 location around the plants …Make a 15 cms slanting hole 30-45 CMS away from trunk …and this can be repeated 2 - 3 times in 15 days interval depending on the labor availability

If it is grown up plants , do apply Am.So4 in a 2-2.5 feet wide basin around the plants …

And also ensure the soil is wet when you do this …

It is better if you cut / prune the terminal growing shoot by 30 CMS or to the level that you think optimum in case of uncontrolled growth and then you can resort to spray …

If you post your field pictures it may help us to study the actual position …

However you can also try spraying Ammonium sulphate as foliar spray @ 5 grams in 1 lit water .Depending on the canopy size ,2-5 lit spray liquid will be needed …For 40 plants of drumstick @ 25 grams Am.So4 , you may need 1 kg Fertilizers and 200 lit water and same may be repeated again in next 15-20 days…When you do spraying Am.So4 , it should completely drench all the fresh leaves and shoots.

The reason for failure to produce flowers even after attending to the operations like pruning and spraying/ soil application of Am.So4 is incomplete or wrong approach …Pruning in drumstick is an art and science that tells where to place your knife and how and why .

Anyhow please try your level best …

In my farm I have planted Deejay variety coconut 100 nos. On the boundary I have planted teak saplings eight months ago which are already 12-14 feet now. On one side I had planted 40 pkm 1 variety moringa. Attached are pics taken before two months ie in april

Seems the moringa plant have grown too high …You need to cut it back

Even I thought so… But wanted expert opinion… Should I just prune branches or straight away cut main stem till 2-3 feet and then allow branches to grow. Also should I do the pruning now or wait till September so that flowering coincides in December period.

You can do the pruning right away

Thank u so much for your help. I appreciate it a lot. I will right away prune branches instead of cutting at the stem…

ramu sir should i put any thing ( medicine / chemicals) to prevent rotting in places where i prune since it is rainy season

Dear pal…
Apply Fresh cow dung balls at cut surface …or you can apply Bordeaux paste …anyone of the above two

pruning method in moringa -PKM-1 as attached in the sketch

Thank you sirjee…

Thank you Ramu Garu,

You are recommending Ammonium Sulphate. If use UREA what will be the effect. Also you being an Expert , kindly enlighten us the difference between Urea and Ammonium Sulphate for the Field. I an getting Confusion about it because both are supplementing Nitrogen to the Plants. Moreover Ammonium sulphate is costlier while Urea is cheaper.a is

Dear mannegaru
why this doubt ? If urea is cheap you can apply urea .Do you know nitrogen is available in atmosphere by 78 % ? The cheapest source of nitrogen.
Nitrogen in urea is in amide form .Nitrogen in ammonium sulphate is in ammoniacal form …The flowering mechanism in drumstick is positively influenced by nutrients combination of nitrogen and sulphur …
Regards

Thank you Sir,

Thank you Very Much Ramu Garu.In a Nutshal you have cleared our Doubt.

Dear sir,
This is 4 months old odc variety, please kindly guide the further growth development and if do pruning any chances to affect flowering,
Now I am using notrobensen for more flowering

Dear Ramu sir& experts
Honey falls(fly insects) on drumstick flies. Using aspect powder 20 g / tank and phendal 15ml / tank did not work well for us. What should we do now please .
