Hey Farm fam, I’ve planted 40 coconut trees on my half-acre land in Mysore, with 25ft spacing between them. Water can be a bit of a challenge here. I’d love some advice on planting mangoes alongside the coconuts, including the ideal distance, or any other crops that might work well considering the water situation.
Yes, you can plant mango and coconut trees side by side, but you need to manage their water requirements carefully.
Mango Tree: During flowering and fruiting, mango trees require less water to avoid flower and fruit drop. Overwatering at this stage can harm yield and quality.
Coconut Tree: Coconuts need regular watering, especially in hot and dry conditions, to maintain good nut production.
If you don’t have time to take care of mango plz forget it .
Go for Banana in between Coconut Trees. You can plant atleast 2 bananas in between the coconut trees at a distance of 8 ft from the coconut trees.
Also, you can plant bananas between the rows as well. Try to plant moringa, glyricidia or any other nitrogen fixing trees between the bananas.
You can or should accumulate your rain water harvesting to feed the plants in future.
Plant Dragon fruit (Red from Inside Variety).
It require less water.
