we are in the process of planting mahogany saplings. and looking at procuring vermicompost.
what is the bulk rate for these? was quoted 16rs per kg, for one ton.
i might need only 200kg, for a rough estimate of 1kg per sapling(is this good enoung along with farmyard manure).
This is in South-Interior-Karnataka, near kanakapura.

You can buy it from Raita samparka kendra, which will be in every hobli level you will get it for much cheaper price….you can 50 kg bags individually. Also, for mahogany you can use any manure or just use neem cake along with pongamia cake….250 gms for each plant

Buy vermicompost only from a reliable/trusted source. Most of them mix mud etc to bulk up the weight. If you cannot find a reliable seller, better to go for kuri gobbara or cow dung from local.
Btw 16/kg is too high.

ThnQ Sir . Being it is Forest Plantation there is no need of Vermicompost. I am suggesting you to put 1-2 Gampas of FMY(Farm Yard Manure) If you are very Particular you can Contact Jayshankar Agriculture University , Rajemdranagar. The cost may be Es.10/Kg. While using Vermicompost also I am suggesting you tp use FMY, Cocopeat , Digged Soil in equal Proportion wile filling the pit after Plantation. I f you need we will provide Consultancy service. Further it is better to go for 5/3 Layer Faming to have better Income of Rs.50K per Acre even in Worst Conditions.
