Can you please identify this bug. It is affecting our mango plants and feeds primarily on the new shoots. We have gone thru 2 rounds - one each of Monocrotophos + fungicide and Phendol + Fungicide but it does not seem to have reduced the infestation.
Any suggestions welcome as to how we can control this
Use a contact insecticide, preferably one of the newer generation safer yet effective ones.
This is a beetle and it is of no use to spray fungicides or stomach poisons (actually counter productive). Monocrotophos should have worked if it got in contact with the insect.
Monocrotophos will kill the insects spontaneously on its Contact.
Dimethoate will absorbs plant cells and its effect will remain for
some time says 5 to 7 Days. On rearing of the Eggs of the creature
will turned as worms at 20th /21st Day and 2nd Spray will destroy
the worms. On Spraying 3-4 times the Growth of the creature
will be stopped.
I am suggesting to apply Sprays suggested once in 15 Days
instead of 20 Days suggested if the menace of bug effect is more.
