Brinjal fruit borer control in Tamil Nadu

A HOTICULTURE FARMER ASKING FARMNEST MEMBER WHAT IS THE BEST METHOD TO MAINTAIN FRUIT BORER IN BRINJAL (WEATHER IS RAINY IN SOUTH TAMILNADU) PLEASE HELP OUR FARMER

THANKING YOU

Avoid growing brinjal in the same field. You can try using profenophos (1.5 ML/LITRE OF WATER)to control eggs and also keep fruit borer moth traps4 4 to 5 per acre.

Inspect the field regularly.Prevention is better than cure.

Dear Mr.

In case of brinjal there are  different methods to control pests

  1. Grow mustard, pigeon pea around the border.

2.Use pheromone traps- you can contact (PCI, Banglore-)

  1. Chemical control.

Triazhophos + Deltamethrin -250-300ml/200 lits water spray

4.Cartap hydrochloride -100 gm + cypermethrin (10%)-50 ml /200 lits water
while spraying add 1 kg potash along with pesticide.
Try to adopt  more organic system, with held irrigation, reduce nitrogen fertilizer etc.
Thank you
good luck

Dear Member,

Pls try Natural way  ie organic pest control ( plant leaves + cow urine).

I am having Brinjal in my farm ( Kodairoad) and am following the above said procedure. the cost for the each application is just Rs.50-75 only.

The Variety is Dhruva F1  rasiseeds.com/child-veg/?ID=30

The result is if we picked 100kg bag then the waste is about 8-10kg only.

Thanks and regards,

Dear sivakumar sir, please contact pest control of india officials and purchase 3 or 4 feramone traps from them which are not costly may be 20 to 30 rupees each and they can work for 2 to 3 months use neem oil,10,000 ppm @ 1 ml per ltr water and spray along with any other pesticide while you are using for any other problem. If possible add 1 or 1.5 kgs Metarhizhium in 100 kgs FYM and 10 kgs neem cake, keep it in moist condition for 15 days and apply in the beds of your brinjal garden. These above can very well control your brinjal fruit borers. g.p.rao,farmer.
