Watermelon crop for the winter

Hello
I am planning for watermelon either NS 295 or sugar queen, planting on 15th December.
Since that would be peak winter, I want to know what issues I could face. I have already failed 3 times with watermelon, but kya karen, dil maange more.

I want to succeed, and I have time till next rains ( April) before I go back to growing maize.
I checked out NS 295 as better market demand these days compared to icebox variety.

So

  1. What issues when growing watermelon in winter?
  2. Yield of NS 295 or sugar queen.

I have few more doubts but lets start here and see what comes out.
