I have inherited a 27 guntha agricultural plot from my father which i now jointly hold with my two brothers and sisters/i would like to legally separate the four portions to individual names.Is there any requirement by law to have any minimum requirement to keep the 6.5 gunthas to myself and then use the status as farmer to buy more agricultural farmland ?
Dear Salim,
In India every state has its own ceiling regarding land that someone can hold legally. The land ceiling act of every state prescribes the maximum land allowed to own and there seems to be no clause regarding minimum holding.
Please double check with ceiling of holdings, Maharashtra Agricultural Land Act.
