Densified total mixed ration (TMR) for commercial dairy farm

Dear Readers,

I have seen some posts on this forum about use of Total Mixed Ration (TMR) in commercial dairy farms.
The technology is now available to compress the TMR in the form of bails OR blocks. These bails are claimed to have a shelf life of 6 months. Most of the posts suggest to use dry fodder, concentrates and minerals foe making TMR blocks.
I want to know more about the densified TMR blocks.
It will help if someone can suggest on follwoing-
1- Can we use fresh green fodder for making TMR blocks.
2- Can these TMR blocks be stored for long time?
3- Can they replace the practice of silage making? some manufacturers are offering optional wrapping of blocks by polythene.

Any suggestions will be helpful.

thanks and regards
